Troubleshooting Guide

NT Auto Performance exhaust systems are designed to provide reliable performance and OEM-style fitment.

If you experience any issues during or after installation, please refer to the guide below.

Valve System Issues

Valve does not open or close

The most common causes are loose USB power, low battery in the remote, wiring being pulled or compressed during installation, or the control box not firmly secured.

Valve opens but does not close (or the opposite)

This usually indicates that one of the valve motor plugs is loose or that the wiring has been stretched, causing intermittent contact.

Remote is not responding

Check the remote battery, ensure you are within normal operating distance, and verify that no large metal objects or panels are blocking the signal.

One side works while the other side does not

This typically means one side’s valve motor plug is not fully connected or that one side of the wiring is under pressure.

Sound Issues

Sound is too quiet or not loud enough

Make sure the valve is open. New exhausts also require a short break-in period.

Minor misalignment during installation can also affect sound.

Metallic rattle or vibration

This is almost always caused by loose bolts, misaligned hangers, old rubber mounts, or the exhaust touching the bumper, heat shield, or chassis.

Unexpected drone or resonance

Drone can occur if the valve is half-open, if the engine has tuning modifications, or if the exhaust has not been fully aligned.

Adjustment at the muffler hangers normally resolves the issue.

Fitment Issues

Exhaust tips are uneven or not centered

This is commonly due to hanger adjustment, rubber mounts, or the rear section not being fully seated.

Exhaust touching the bumper or diffuser

May happen if the car has an aftermarket rear diffuser or if the installer did not fine-tune the angle.

Most exhaust systems require small alignment adjustments at the hangers.

Scraping or rubbing sounds

Usually caused by the mid-pipe being too close to underbody panels or shields.

Re-adjusting the pipe angle typically solves this issue.

Power / Wiring Issues

USB power cuts out or disconnects

This happens when luggage presses on the wiring, when the USB port is loose, or when the wire is bent sharply.

Control box overheating or inconsistent power

Occurs when the control box is placed in a tight space and covered by items.

Ensure it has some breathing room.

Valve motor makes weak clicking sounds

A sign of insufficient power or stretched wiring.

Check the USB connection and avoid tension on the wire harness.
